In December 2014 I was lucky enough to spend a long fabulous weekend in New York. One of the first things I did was go straight to the MOMA and as it was a Friday night it was free. Great I thought, little did I know about 5 million other people had the same thought too.
The museum has an extensive collection of famous works from Andy Warhol to Salvador Dali. The only downside was the insane amount of people that were there, made it almost impossible to really look at the artworks or just even sit and think about life as you do in such places! I know NYC is a city that’s always on the move, full of people blah blah but anyone who is considering going on a free night-don’t do it. Save your blood pressure from getting too high and just spend the $25 on a Monday morning in the hope that you will at least see an artwork without someone’s head in the way. Rookie mistake from me then?
I still think it’s a fantastic museum and would definitely return to see it all, I was so jet-lagged I only had the energy to see Levels 4 & 5! Also I have always wanted to visit this museum so I’m glad I went along as there were so many pieces I had learnt about in school that I was able to see in reality for the first time.
